Two female residents of Atyrau aged 38 and 39 ended up in police custody after a live stream on TikTok during which they advertised perfume and called themselves terrorists. Law enforcement officers opened three administrative cases against the women, and the materials were referred to court.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the police department (PD) of Atyrau region, the women went live on social media from one of the city's retail premises. While advertising perfumery, they began making statements about their involvement in terrorism and connections with officers of the National Security Committee (NSC).
WHICH ADMINISTRATIVE CASES WERE OPENED
After the video recording spread, police identified both participants of the live stream and brought them to the police station.
According to law enforcement, three administrative offences are involved: petty hooliganism, distribution of unlawful content and violation of requirements for wearing clothing that prevents facial recognition in public places.
The latter norm concerns clothing that covers the face to such an extent that it impedes identifying a person. The ban has been in effect since 12 July 2025 and provides for exceptions, in particular for medical purposes, weather conditions and the performance of official duties.
MATERIALS REFERRED TO COURT
After being brought to the police, the women were given a preventive talk involving a theologian. They were briefed on the requirements of legislation and norms of public order.
The materials of the three administrative cases were referred to court. Police also reminded that social media and live streams do not exempt users from complying with the legislation of Kazakhstan.
