Nearly a hundred vandals have been punished in Astana for damaging property.

Since the start of 2026, 94 people have been held administratively liable in Astana for the deliberate destruction of and damage to other people's property. Of these, 67 were given administrative arrest, while a further 27 were fined a total of more than 5 million tenge.

WHAT DATA THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE PROVIDED

According to the Astana city prosecutor's office, law enforcement and local executive bodies, coordinated by the prosecutor's office, are carrying out work to combat vandalism.

Since the start of the year, 94 people have been held administratively liable for the deliberate destruction of and damage to other people's property. Of these, 67 have been arrested, and 27 have been handed administrative fines totalling more than 5 million tenge.

WHICH CASES WERE CITED AS EXAMPLES

As reported by the prosecutor's office, on 4 June at around 16:30, a city resident, while under the influence of alcohol, smashed the glass of the entrance door at a police station. The court sentenced him to administrative arrest for a period of 10 days. The amount of damage caused was 90,000 tenge.

Another case involves a 38-year-old city resident who tore down signs from the Sheikh Kunta Kazhy Mosque, ripped them up and threw them away. Following review of the case materials, he was arrested for 15 days.

In addition, on 20 May at around 17:30, a 20-year-old city resident deliberately damaged a barrier. He was held administratively liable and fined 50 MCI.

WHAT LIABILITY IS PROVIDED FOR

According to the prosecutor's office, such violations carry administrative liability under Article 147-1 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Deliberate destruction of or damage to other people's property"). The sanction provides for administrative arrest of up to 30 days or a fine of up to 60 MCI.

The prosecutor's office urged residents and guests of the capital to observe public order and treat other people's property with care.
