On a section of the republican highway Almaty — Yekaterinburg in the Akmola Region, a power line tower collapsed. Wires ended up on the roadway, causing traffic to be temporarily stopped.
WHAT HAPPENED
Footage from the scene was published on the public page kokshe_city_03. The video shows a fallen power line pole and wires lying on the road. The author of the clip reported that cars cannot pass through this section of the highway.
According to the administration of the Astrakhan District of the Akmola Region, the incident occurred on the republican highway Almaty — Yekaterinburg near the village of Koskól in the Starokoluton rural district.
"According to preliminary data, a support tower of the 500 kV high-voltage power line fell onto the roadway," the agency reported.
The administration stated that traffic on this section of the highway was temporarily halted due to the threat to the life and safety of citizens.
WHAT THE POLICE REPORTED
The police department of the Akmola Region reported that the road traffic incident occurred on 20 May on the stretch Astana — Atbasar — Zhaksy — Ruzayevka — Sarykol — Kostanay — Russian border.
According to the police, the accident damaged a high-voltage power line, temporarily disrupting traffic.
Officers at the scene organised traffic regulation and ensured the safety of road users. A detour via the nearest populated area was arranged for cars.
HOW THE CONSEQUENCES ARE BEING ADDRESSED
The police department of the Akmola Region reported that specialists from the energy organisation and road services are working on restoring the power line and eliminating the aftermath of the incident.
Once restoration work is completed, traffic on this section of the highway will be fully restored.
The police also stated that the driver of the vehicle has been held accountable in accordance with the legislation.
