The village of Stary Koluton in the Astrakhan district of the Akmola region has been cut off from transport links due to the flooding of the Koluton River.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, over the past 24 hours, rescuers using motorboats have ferried 21 villagers, including pregnant women.
To reinforce the shoreline, agency staff have laid more than 1,000 bags of inert materials and pumped out 300 cubic metres of water. At the same time, 21 head of cattle and around 100 sheep were moved to a safe location.
"Around 70 personnel, 20 units of special equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies and volunteers are involved in the rescue operations. The situation is under the control of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Rescue and reinforcement measures are ongoing around the clock," the ministry noted.
