In the early hours of 4 October, near the Dostar restaurant in Ust-Kamenogorsk, a 40-year-old police officer who was off duty died following a conflict. The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility (IVS).
HOW THE FIGHT HAPPENED
According to the Police Department of the East Kazakhstan Region (DP VKO), the conflict began inside the restaurant after the deceased made a remark to one of the patrons about his behaviour.
The men then went outside. According to police, the patron pushed the officer and kicked him in the head. From the injuries sustained, the 40-year-old man died at the scene.
WHO ELSE WAS AFFECTED
During the conflict, another patron who tried to intervene in the fight was also injured. According to the DP VKO, CCTV footage shows the suspect striking him in the head.
Police clarified that the deceased was a police officer, but was not on duty at the time of the incident.

The suspect was detained and placed in the IVS. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.

In June 2026, in the Almaty Region, the body of 37-year-old Almaty police officer Aslan Alserov was found with severe thermal injuries. As part of the investigation, the involvement of his wife, who had also previously worked in the internal affairs bodies, was being examined.
Later, new statements appeared in the case from the defence of the underage defendants. Lawyers claim that pressure may have been exerted on the teenagers during the investigation, and that the first interrogation of one of them took place without a defence lawyer present.
