Patrol motorcycles were involved in a fatal road traffic accident in Tashkent.

On 16 July, a road traffic accident (RTA) involving patrol motorcycles of the State Traffic Inspectorate and an Onix car occurred in Tashkent. One traffic inspector died as a result of the crash, and several other victims are receiving medical assistance.

The dashcam of one of the cars captured the moment of the collision, and recordings of the aftermath of the accident were published by social media users.

It is reported that traffic at the intersection was being controlled by law enforcement officers. After a van and another car passed, movement was permitted. When one of the cars began to move on a green traffic light, it was hit by the patrol motorcycles. Following the impact, one of the motorcycles caught fire. The car sustained serious damage and collided with two other vehicles.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INCIDENT

According to the Road Safety Service (RSS), the accident occurred on 16 July at approximately 18:30 on Dormon Yuli Street in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent, reports UzNews.uz.

Three RSS inspectors, travelling on patrol motorcycles, collided at the intersection with an Onix car that had entered from Gazalkent Street. As a result of the RTA, one inspector, who was riding a patrol motorcycle, died at the scene from his injuries. The remaining victims are receiving medical assistance, although their exact number is not specified in the published materials.

After the accident, traffic on the section was temporarily suspended. Following the clearance of the wreckage, traffic was resumed.

WHAT THE RSS REPORTED

According to the RSS, the version circulated on social media that the accident occurred while escorting a motorcade is not true.

The department also stated that an investigation into the incident is underway. Additional details are promised to be published later.
