Zhambyl District Court approved a mediation agreement between the department of architecture, urban planning and construction of the district akimat and a local resident following a dispute over publications on Facebook. The defendant undertook to post a retraction and apologise, while the claimant withdrew the claims.
WHAT CAUSED THE DISPUTE
According to the press service of the courts of Zhambyl Region, the reason for the proceedings was publications that a local resident posted on Facebook in July 2026.
According to the claimant, the author questioned the quality of public services, described the department's activity as having turned into a "private shop" and created the impression that employees of the institution were unlawfully obstructing citizens in resolving their issues.
The court reported that at the time of publication the statutory period for consideration of the application for the provision of a public service had not yet expired. Despite this, claims of missed deadlines and the creation of unjustified obstacles appeared on social media.
The department applied to the court demanding that the disseminated information be recognised as untrue, obliging the defendant to delete the publications and post a retraction, and also to recover compensation for moral harm.
ON WHAT TERMS THE PARTIES ENDED THE DISPUTE
During the court proceedings the parties concluded a mediation agreement. Under its terms, the defendant undertook to publish a retraction on his Facebook page, apologise to the department and henceforth verify the accuracy of information before publication.
The claimant, in turn, withdrew the claims.
The court approved the mediation agreement and terminated the proceedings. The ruling entered into legal force.
