The Ministry of Health has identified violations in 29 maternity hospitals in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Health has completed inspections of 82 out of 84 maternity care organisations in Kazakhstan. Violations of the disinfection and sterilisation regime were identified in 29 medical organisations.

WHAT THE SPECIALISTS CHECKED

According to the press office of the Ministry of Health, specialists examined 35 perinatal centres and 47 maternity wards. They assessed compliance with infection safety requirements, including sterilisation and disinfection, as well as the condition of ventilation and water supply systems.

Inspectors also reviewed the timely identification of infections and the work of infection control services. In total, 81 sanitary orders were issued following the inspections.

HOW THE REMEDY OF VIOLATIONS WILL BE MONITORED

First Vice-Minister of Health Timur Sultangaziyev instructed regional health departments to monitor compliance with the issued orders on a monthly basis.

In addition, maternity care facilities must bring their sanitary and technical condition into line with established requirements.

WHICH MEDICAL ORGANISATIONS WILL BE INSPECTED NEXT

The next phase of inspections will cover children's hospitals. Following this, similar work will be carried out in primary healthcare organisations.
