In Kyrgyzstan, less than a month after his appointment, the Minister of Emergency Situations, Urmatbek Shamykanov, has been dismissed. The decision was made by President Sadyr Japarov following an inspection by the General Prosecutor's Office, which was reviewing an employee's complaint about a possible bribe allegedly taken earlier, when Shamykanov held the post of Deputy Minister.
WHY SUSPICIONS AROSE
As reported by the President's Press Secretary, Askat Alagozov, the reason for the personnel decision was information about a possible bribe taken during Shamykanov's time as Deputy Minister.
According to one ministry employee, in the summer of 2025, the then Deputy Minister allegedly demanded money for a promotion. The applicant claims he transferred part of the agreed sum to the e-wallet of Urmatbek Shamykanov.
After Shamykanov was appointed Minister, the employee stated that he would not be able to hand over the remaining part of the money.
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE REFUSAL TO HAND OVER THE MONEY
According to the applicant, following this, he was transferred to serve in a unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Batken Region.
The employee transferred to the region sent an appeal to President Sadyr Japarov, outlining the circumstances of what had happened.

THE GENERAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE INSPECTION
After receiving the appeal, the head of state instructed the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan to conduct an inspection of the facts stated in the appeal.
According to the supervisory authority, the facts set out in the statement were confirmed. Details of the inspection are not specified in the published materials.
THE PRESIDENT'S DECISION
Based on the results of the inspection, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, decided to dismiss Urmatbek Shamykanov from the post of Minister of Emergency Situations.
As noted by the President's Press Secretary, Askat Alagozov, this case should serve as a signal for civil servants. According to him, the country's leadership will not ignore such allegations, even if they concern recently appointed officials.
