Kazakhstanis have been warned about new rules for employment in Georgia, changes to the visa-free regime with Israel, the situation with missing female citizens on the border of Nepal and China, and the reduction of the visa-free stay period in Thailand. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zhanbolat Usenov.
WHAT HAS CHANGED FOR KAZAKHSTANIS IN GEORGIA
From 1 September 2026, foreigners working without the right to employment provided for by Georgian legislation became grounds for expulsion from the country.
For citizens of Kazakhstan, the visa-free regime for entry and stay in Georgia remains valid for up to 365 days. However, this regime does not grant the right to work. Administrative liability is provided for carrying out paid activity without the appropriate permit.
In the event of expulsion, a foreign citizen may also be banned from re-entering Georgia for a period of 2 to 5 years. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Kazakhstanis planning employment, entrepreneurial or other paid activity check in advance that they have the right to work.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE VISA-FREE REGIME WITH ISRAEL
Kazakhstan continues negotiations with Israel on easing the visa regime. At the same time, specific timelines and conditions of a possible visa-free agreement have not yet been confirmed.
According to Zhanbolat Usenov, Kazakhstan is conducting similar negotiations with a number of states. For citizens of Israel, a visa-free regime for stay in Kazakhstan of up to 30 calendar days per trip is already in effect.
WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH KAZAKH WOMEN ON THE BORDER OF NEPAL AND CHINA
The briefing also touched upon the situation with three female citizens of Kazakhstan who went missing in a mountainous area on the border of Nepal and China after a severe flood.
There is no new information about them yet. Kazakh diplomats are maintaining contact with the families and local authorities, and search efforts are ongoing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not disclose the personal data of the missing persons.
HOW THE RULES FOR TRAVEL TO THAILAND HAVE CHANGED
From 15 September 2026, a previously concluded agreement with Thailand exempting holders of national passports from visa requirements applies to citizens of Kazakhstan.
Now Kazakhstanis can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 30 calendar days from the date of entry. Previously, a 60-day regime was in effect, which applied to citizens of 93 countries and territories, including Kazakhstan.
The total period of visa-free stay for citizens of Kazakhstan must not exceed 90 days within each 180-day period. If a trip involves a stay of more than 30 days, a visa must be obtained in advance.
The Thai side explained the revision of the regime by the need to update migration policy taking into account national security issues and economic factors.
WHAT OTHER CHANGES WERE REPORTED TO KAZAKHSTANIS
From July 2026, citizens of Kazakhstan can enter Indonesia without a visa for a period of up to 30 days. The visa-free regime is free of charge and provides for single entry. At the same time, those arriving from abroad must fill out the electronic declaration "All Indonesia".
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan also urged citizens, before travelling, to check in advance the migration, visa, transit and customs requirements of the countries of destination and transit. Separately, the ministry recommends monitoring the validity periods of documents, obtaining medical insurance and not transporting other people's parcels with unknown contents.
