On the morning of 13 August, Kazakhstani users encountered disruptions to Telegram. For some users, messages and media files would not send, while for others the app would not open at all. According to the Detector404 service, after 08:00 the share of network failures and the number of user complaints rose sharply and continued to grow towards the middle of the day.
HOW THE PICTURE CHANGED OVER THE COURSE OF THE DAY
Overnight and in the morning, the Detector404 service recorded only isolated spikes - no higher than 10% of network failures in any given hour. After 08:00, the figure went almost vertically towards 100%, and the number of user complaints quickly approached 1000.
The mass outage in Astana began around the middle of the day, at approximately 12:00, and was still ongoing at the time of publication.
WHERE MOST COMPLAINTS ARE COMING FROM
Over the last hour, adjusted for regional population, the most reports came from Astana - 28%. This is followed by Almaty (11%), Karaganda Region (10%), Pavlodar Region (9%) and Kostanay Region (8%).
WHAT USERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT
Over the course of the day, complaints about notifications dominate - 57%, with another 35% about mobile app failures, and 5% about an overall service outage. By device, iOS leads at 42.3%, followed by Android at 34.7%, Windows at 18.1% and Mac OS X at 4%.
The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development (MAIDD) said it is investigating the causes. On a global scale, no significant Telegram outages have been recorded.
