11 August 37-year-old Rinat died at the police station GRES-2, having been detained earlier near his home in the village of Solnechny, Pavlodar Region. The man's relatives dispute the suicide account and are raising questions about the reasons for his detention and the circumstances surrounding his death.

WHAT THE RELATIVES SAID

According to Qumash, Rinat's sister said he was detained near his home and taken to the police station. His younger brother was present at the time.

Around half an hour after the detention, the duty officer called Rinat's mother and asked her to come in. According to his sister, the woman saw her son hanged in the holding cell.

WHAT THE POLICE SAID

The Pavlodar Region Police Department reported that the man was intoxicated and disturbing public order. According to police, he had a previous criminal record and had been subject to administrative penalties.

The man was detained and placed in a holding cell. Some time later, he was found unconscious.

WHAT QUESTIONS REMAIN FOR THE FAMILY

The relatives do not accept the suicide account and do not believe the explanation of the circumstances surrounding the detention. The family wants answers to several questions: why Rinat was detained, whether a search was carried out before he was placed in the holding cell, and how police officers failed to notice what was happening and did not prevent the tragedy.
