In Aktobe, a man twice posed as an injured pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing and received 450,000 tenge from drivers. One of the motorists contacted the police, after which the man was recognised as a suspect.

WHAT IS KNOWN

According to the Police Department (PD) of Aktobe Region, at the intersection of Zhiyenbayev and Tashkent streets, the man created the appearance that he had been hit by a car. After that, he claimed that he had sustained bodily injuries and demanded money from drivers as compensation.

The man used this scheme twice. In both cases, he approached the motorists directly after staging the collision.

HOW MUCH MONEY THE MAN RECEIVED

In the first case, the driver believed the man's account and transferred him 250,000 tenge via a mobile app. In the second case, the transfer amount was 200,000 tenge.

Thus, the total damage from the two incidents amounted to 450,000 tenge.

HOW THE INVESTIGATION BEGAN

After one of the incidents, the driver contacted the police. Following the investigation, the circumstances he described were confirmed. The man has been assigned the procedural status of a suspect.

Investigative actions are being carried out in the case.
