The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has reported that the woman injured in the knife attack in Northern Cyprus is not a citizen of Kazakhstan. According to the ministry, she is a native of Kazakhstan but currently holds citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the MFA, during the clarification of information it was established that the woman injured in the attack in Northern Cyprus is a native of Kazakhstan, but at present she is a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Earlier, information was circulated on social media that the injured woman may have been a citizen of Kazakhstan.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE ATTACK
According to local media, the attack took place at the Metropol Market supermarket in the city of Nicosia in Northern Cyprus.
It was reported that 22-year-old Zhanerke Abdrazakova sustained serious knife wounds. After the attack, the man, according to media reports, inflicted wounds on himself. Both were hospitalised.
According to Cyprusnews247, the injured woman is in the intensive care unit. Hospital sources reported that due to liver damage, she may require a further operation.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE SUSPECT
A 31-year-old Turkish citizen is suspected of the attack. Publications also cite information that the man allegedly followed the girl for several days before the attack.
At the time of publication, no official confirmation of this information or details regarding the motive for the attack had been provided.
The injured woman and the suspect remain under medical supervision. The motive for the attack has not yet been established.
