The international tournament ALTYN ORDA brought together more than 200 archers in Atyrau

In Atyrau, the international traditional archery tournament ALTYN ORDA is taking place, bringing together more than 200 archers from 18 countries. The competition has already become a tradition and aims to popularise traditional archery, develop the national sport, improve athletes' skills and facilitate international exchange of experience.

 

 

WHO IS TAKING PART IN THE TOURNAMENT

Athletes from Kazakhstan and 18 countries around the world are taking part in the competition. Among them are Hungary, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, France and Morocco, as well as representatives of other states.

The competitions are held in various disciplines of traditional archery. The athletes' performances are judged by international referees.

WHY THE TOURNAMENT IS BEING HELD IN ATYRAU

At the official opening of the tournament, the regional akim Bolat Akchulakov congratulated the participants and noted the symbolic significance of holding the competition in Atyrau.

According to him, the region is linked to the era of the Golden Horde, and the ancient city of Sarayshyk located here occupies a special place in national history. Therefore, noted the head of the region, holding the international tournament ALTYN ORDA in Atyrau connects historical heritage with the modern development of traditional archery.

"Atyrau is a sacred land with a rich and deep history directly linked to the era of the Golden Horde. The ancient city of Sarayshyk located in our region occupies a special place in national history. That is precisely why holding the international archery tournament "ALTYN ORDA" in Atyrau is filled with deep symbolic meaning, connecting our great past with the present," noted Bolat Akchulakov.

The head of the region called the competition not only a sporting contest, but also a sign of respect for history and the revival of national art. He noted that today large-scale work is being carried out in the region to strengthen the material and technical base of traditional archery and to create conditions for training athletes.

"Our main goal is not only to create favourable conditions for the development of national sport, but also to nurture new world-class champions in Atyrau. I wish our archers success, accurate shots and victories! I wish everyone good health and great success," said the regional akim.

 

 

HOW MANY ATHLETES PRACTISE ARCHERY

Special attention is paid to the development of traditional archery in the region. Currently, more than 100 people regularly practise this sport in the region.

Among the athletes are two masters of sport of international class, eight masters of sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 25 candidates for master of sport.

As part of the event, Bolat Akchulakov also presented letters of appreciation to athletes from the Atyrau region who achieved high results at the VI World Nomad Games.

Among them are silver medallist in kokpar Abylai Ulykpanov and bronze medallist in traditional archery Ali Sesiguzel.

WHAT RESULTS THE ARCHERS ACHIEVED

Following the results of the first day of competition in the "Puta" discipline, qualifying rounds were held among men and women.

Third place among men was taken by Zabit Satoev. Among women, the bronze medallist was Milyausha Khalilova from Russia.

On 15 September, the athletes will continue their fight for medals in the "Qalqan" discipline.

The competition will continue until 15 September. Over the course of several days, the archers will compete for medals in various disciplines of traditional archery. The athletes' performances will be judged by international referees.
