ALTYN ORDA

The international traditional archery tournament ALTYN ORDA, which gathered archers from around the world in Atyrau over three days, concluded with a total count of awards. Of the 12 prize places won by the Kazakhstani team, four were of the highest calibre - gold was contested in three disciplines: "Puta", "Qalqan" and "Zhamby".

HOW THE AWARDS WERE DISTRIBUTED ACROSS THE DISCIPLINES

The tournament was held across three types of traditional archery targets: "Puta", "Qalqan" and "Zhamby". In each discipline, separate sets of medals were contested among men and women, so over the three days several champions were determined at once.

In shooting at the "Puta" target, among the men, an athlete from Kyrgyzstan took the victory, while representatives of Kazakhstan took second and third places. Among the women, gold went to a Kazakhstani athlete, silver to a representative of Kyrgyzstan, and bronze was taken by an archer from Russia.

WHO BECAME CHAMPION IN "QALQAN" ARCHERY

In the "Qalqan" discipline, Kazakhstani archers performed most confidently. Among the men, first place was taken by a representative of Kazakhstan, second by an athlete from Mongolia, and third again went to a Kazakhstani archer. Among the women, victory was also taken by an athlete from Kazakhstan, with other representatives of the country also finishing among the medallists.

THE WOMEN'S PODIUM IN "ZHAMBY"

In shooting at the "Zhamby" target, among the men the winner was an athlete from Mongolia, while representatives of Kazakhstan took second and third places. In the women's category, however, Kazakhstani archers took the entire podium of honour - gold, silver and bronze.

WHAT THE TOURNAMENT MEANS FOR THE REGION

According to the head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism of Atyrau Region, Nurbol Sydykov, the competitions were held at a high level, and the arrival of athletes from 18 countries around the world became a significant event for the region.

"I believe the competitions were held at a high level. The arrival in Atyrau of athletes from 18 countries around the world became a significant event for our region. Such international tournaments not only contribute to the development of national sport, but also have a positive effect on enhancing Atyrau's tourist appeal. Going forward, we are interested in holding such international competitions on a regular basis," noted Nurbol Sydykov.

Recall that the FBRK earlier wrote about the start of the tournament, in which teams from Hungary, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, France and Morocco took part. The region's akim, Bolat Akchulakov, noted that the region is linked to the era of the Golden Horde, and the ancient city of Saraishyq located here occupies a special place in national history. That is precisely why holding the international ALTYN ORDA tournament in Atyrau links historical heritage with the modern development of traditional archery.
