More than 5,100 petunias infected with a quarantine object — dodder — were discovered during import from the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan into Kazakhstan. The infected produce was returned to the sender in accordance with legal requirements.

HOW THE INFECTED PRODUCE WAS DETECTED
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the fact of importing infected quarantine-regulated produce was established by the state plant quarantine inspector of the Turkestan Regional Territorial Inspectorate.
During phytosanitary control, specialists identified that a batch of more than 5,100 petunias was infected with a quarantine object — dodder.

WHAT MEASURES THE INSPECTORS TOOK
Following the detection of the violation, a return certificate was issued. The infected produce was returned to the sender.
Inspectorate officials stated that such measures are aimed at preventing the import and spread of quarantine harmful organisms within the country, as well as ensuring phytosanitary safety and protecting agricultural crops.
