горячая линия 1312

Residents of Almaty now have a dedicated helpline for advice after tick bites during the seasonal activity period of these insects.

WHERE TO SEEK HELP AFTER A TICK BITE

According to the Almaty City Administration (Akimat), a hotline 1312 has been launched in the city, where advice can be obtained on what to do after a tick bite, vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis, and how to access medical care.

Doctors recommend seeking medical help within the first 96 hours after a bite. During this period, administering immunoglobulin for emergency prevention of tick-borne encephalitis is most effective.

Help is available at the trauma centres of Almaty's city hospitals. The specific procedure to follow depending on your area of residence can be confirmed by calling 1312.

Children under 18 are accepted at the Centre for Children's Emergency Medical Care at 40 Manasa Street, regardless of their area of residence.

HOW TO GET VACCINATED

At polyclinics in Almaty, the TicoVac vaccine is available for residents over 16 years old. The Akimat has reported that medical facilities are stocked with the necessary supply of vaccines and immunoglobulin.

WHAT DOCTORS RECOMMEND

After walks in the mountains, parks, and areas with tall grass, medical professionals advise checking clothing and skin. Grass, bushes, forest paths, and garden plots are listed among the places where ticks may be found.

Ticks can carry tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease. Doctors recommend not self-medicating after a bite and seeking medical help promptly.
