The first court hearing in the criminal case against activist and blogger Sanzhar Bokayev has been scheduled for 28 September.
WHEN THE TRIAL WILL BEGIN
As reported by lawyer Radmir Utepov, the first hearing in the case of Sanzhar Bokayev will take place on 28 September at 09:30 at the Almaly District Court of the city of Almaty. The trial will be held in open session.
On 11 September, the criminal case arrived at the court.
CONTEXT
Bokayev was detained in March 2026 and is suspected of disseminating knowingly false information and embezzlement on a particularly large scale through fraud.
Later, the Investigative Court of Almaty extended his detention until 18 June 2026.
The investigation identified property worth over $2 million, obtained testimony from key witnesses and documented his role in several episodes.
Earlier, Bokayev's associate and one of the co-founders of the "NetUtilSboru" movement, Vladimir Kim, announced his withdrawal from the group, resignation as administrator and the end of his participation in public activities. He took this decision after an incident at the border, where, according to him, he unexpectedly encountered a temporary ban on leaving Kazakhstan.
