A criminal case against activist Sanzhar Bokayev has been sent to court. The date of the first court hearing is not yet known.
WHAT IS KNOWN
As reported by lawyer Radmir Utepov, his client's case has been sent to the Almaly District Court for Criminal Cases of Almaty. The defence does not yet have information about the date set for the first court hearing.
The lawyer noted that the defence will report further news on the case as soon as new information becomes available.
CONTEXT
Bokayev was detained in March 2026 and is suspected of disseminating knowingly false information and embezzlement on an especially large scale by means of fraud.
Later, the Investigative Court of Almaty extended the detention until 18 June 2026.
The investigation identified property worth more than $2 million, obtained testimony from key witnesses and documented his role in several episodes.
Earlier, Bokayev's associate and one of the co-founders of the "NetUtilSboru" movement, Vladimir Kim, announced his withdrawal from the group, resignation as administrator and the end of his participation in public activities. He made this decision after an incident at the border, where, according to him, he unexpectedly encountered a temporary ban on leaving Kazakhstan.
