In Kyrgyzstan, former parliament deputy Shairbek Tashiev has been detained on suspicion of corruption. The event attracted attention due to his family ties with the former head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DETENTION
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (MIA KR), the detention took place as part of a criminal case related to corruption at OJSC Kyrgyzneftegaz.
The grounds for initiating the case were materials from the State Tax Service under the Cabinet of Ministers and the results of an audit.
Law enforcement officers placed him in a temporary detention facility (TDF).
POLITICAL CONTEXT
Shairbek Tashiev is the brother of former SCNS chairman Kamchybek Tashiev. His detention occurred against the backdrop of large-scale personnel reshuffles in the country.
In September 2025, more than 20 officials in Kyrgyzstan were detained directly during a meeting with Kamchybek Tashiev.
