In Aktobe, staff at social services centre No. 2 have complained about the cold in the building and the lack of repairs. The trigger was a video on social media, after which officials from the city administration arrived at the facility and stated that the centre continues to operate as normal.

UNBEARABLE CONDITIONS

A video has been circulating on social media in which the author shows peeling walls in the centre's building, tiles falling off in the toilet, and people who do not take off their hats due to the cold.

OLD BUILDING

According to "Channel Seven", the building was constructed back in the 1970s and has never undergone major renovations in all that time. A total of 430 people with mental illnesses live in the centre. The number of staff is 220 employees.

ADMINISTRATION'S POSITION

After the video appeared, the deputy head of the regional department for employment coordination and social programmes, Anuarbek Konzhar, came to the centre. He stated that the facility is operating as normal. The air temperature in the rooms is 17-20 degrees Celsius. In the corridors, it is slightly lower.

He added that the building's engineering networks are planned to be repaired this year. For this purpose, 177 million tenge has been allocated from the budget.

PREVIOUS INCIDENTS

The portal Orda.kz reminded that this is not the first scandalous video from social services centre No. 2. In the spring of last year, footage was released showing one of the residents, a 25-year-old man, behind bars, and being fed from metal dishes.

At the time, the centre explained that the young man had been isolated because, according to them, he posed a threat to the other residents of the centre.
