Employees of an industrial plant in the Abay region have reported a critical situation due to not receiving wages for several months. According to them, the lack of payments has led to debt, frozen bank accounts, and an inability to access medical care, despite the plant continuing to operate.
WHAT THE PLANT WORKERS HAVE STATED
Former maslikhat deputy Serik Baigaliyev published on his Instagram page an appeal in which workers of Semey Machine-Building Plant JSC said they stopped receiving wages from October 2025. According to them, this is not a short-term delay, but a complete halt in payments lasting several months.
The employees note that for many, their wage is their only source of income. The workers have families, children, loans, and other financial commitments. Due to the lack of payments, people have fallen into debt, defaulted on payments, and had their bank accounts frozen.
According to the complainants, the plant continues to generate revenue, including a contract from the akimat worth 118 million tenge, yet these funds are not reaching the employees.
SOCIAL AND MEDICAL CONSEQUENCES
The appeal also states that pension and social contributions, as well as contributions to the compulsory social health insurance (CSHI) system, are not being paid on behalf of the workers. According to the employees, this has deprived them of the ability to receive medical care.
The employees are asking the regional akim to look into the situation and help people who have been left without wages and a stable income.
