Susanna Grigoryan, the wife of businessman Denis Kvitas convicted of fraud, held a solo picket in Almaty. On social media, Grigoryan claimed that the investigation into her husband was launched because of materials from the FBRC. Denis Kvitas himself in comments accused us of lying and threatened legal action.

In 2022, we wrote about the activities of Almaty businessman Denis Kvitas, who fraudulently obtained a large sum of money from trusting businesspeople and trading companies.

It was reported that, in response to complaints from victims, the businessman openly stated that he could always supposedly "make a deal" and "fix things" with law enforcement, the courts, and the prosecutor's office.

Meanwhile, all investigations launched based on victims' statements were handled negligently, and later were dropped entirely. Consequently, we suspected that Denis Kvitas indeed had certain connections within the authorities.

After the publication of the materials, Kvitas began accusing the FBRC of lying and threatened us with legal proceedings. His wife Susanna Grigoryan wrote on social media that our materials had negatively affected her husband's reputation.

According to the couple, we were carrying out a contract for Kvitas's former business partner, ex-head of the Astana Passenger Transport Department Edil Argyn, who was sentenced to 6 years in 2016 for bribery and illegal entrepreneurship.

Initially, we were unaware of the details of the conflict between Kvitas and Argyn. As later became clear, according to Susanna Grigoryan, her husband previously ran a joint business with Argyn, but the ex-official embezzled money from the shared company.

Edil Argyn, for his part, claimed that Denis Kvitas had never been his partner or co-owner of the business, and that the company was transferred to Kvitas and his accomplices under duress.

Kvitas, meanwhile, wanted to claim compensation from his former partner, as he saw him. The conflict between Kvitas and Argyn led to Denis Kvitas himself ending up behind bars, accused of corporate raiding and fraud.

As a result of the proceedings between the two businessmen, the Almaty prosecutor's office reopened previously closed cases against Denis Kvitas and referred them to the city department of economic investigations.

In April, he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to 6 years in prison with confiscation of property. The other day, Susanna Grigoryan held a solo picket called "The Injustice of the Kazakhstani Judicial System". She believes that all accusations against her family are fabricated, and that Edil Argyn is behind it.

The editorial team of the FBRC does not intend to get involved in the conflict that arose between Kvitas and Argyn. We merely remind you that our materials are published based on documents provided and after detailed verification of the facts presented.
