The transport police department has provided details about an explosion near the old station in Astana, which occurred during the night of 14 February.
According to the department's press service, the explosion of a container that arrived by train happened at 00:25 on the 12th track of the Astana station sorting yard.
It is noted that there are no casualties. One person suffered minor injuries to their hand. The police assured that there is no threat to passengers or residents of nearby areas.
"The transport police department has opened a criminal case under the article 'Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway transport'. An investigation team has been formed. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish the cause of the incident," the statement said.
The press service of JSC "NC "KTZ" reported that the container belonged to a private company and was said to contain electrical equipment (transformers, generators).
Meanwhile, on social media, eyewitnesses claim that the blast wave was felt by residents of surrounding areas. Some houses had their windows blown out.
