A project to equip ambulances with video surveillance systems is being implemented in Astana. It is expected that this will ensure the safety of medical workers and patients. It has become known that over the past three years, 66 attacks on ambulance crews have been recorded in the capital.

According to the press service of the city akimat, the first vehicle has already been equipped with four cameras, a video recorder, a module and a monitor that transmits images in real time. The video stream will be sent both to the ambulance dispatch service and to the Police Department's Operational Control Centre.
By the end of the year, it is planned to equip 100 ambulances with video surveillance systems. This initiative is being implemented with the support of the Astana Department of Digitalisation and Public Services.
Video surveillance in ambulances is part of a comprehensive programme to protect medical workers. It will be recalled that earlier, the Minister of Health, Akmaraal Alnazarova, and the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC, Bagdat Mussin, discussed digital solutions using artificial intelligence at the Ministry of Health.
The projects concerned improving the safety of medical personnel, expanding access to medical care for the rural population, and reducing the workload on doctors.
One such innovation was the introduction of smart video badges to improve the safety of medical workers. The technology is already being used in pilot mode by five ambulance crews in Astana, and a launch in Almaty is planned in the near future. The initiative was supported by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Later, the Ministry of Health, together with territorial police departments, ensured the operation of 152 round-the-clock police posts in medical organisations in Kazakhstan.
