According to the Center for Analysis and Investigation of Cyber Attacks (TSARKA), a coordinated campaign is being observed on social media to spread unreliable information about tragic incidents in the city of Talgar.

This concerns events related to the death of a teenager Sherzat Polat and the situation that has developed around his relatives today.

As reported by the centre's specialists, since the beginning of this week an anomalous surge in activity from bot farms has been recorded, aimed at manipulating public opinion.

According to available information, malicious actors are spreading fake videos, edited from archival footage of the January events, supposedly showing current protests in Almaty and other cities.

The mass dissemination of unreliable content is occurring primarily on TikTok and Instagram. TSARKA analysts have reviewed more than 50,000 comments and identified signs of a coordinated information attack

As a reminder, the editorial team of FBRK previously attempted to answer the question of who is trying to influence public opinion through the lens of events in Talgar.

We strongly recommend that readers approach information on the internet critically, verify the sources of published materials, and only turn to trusted information resources.
