In the Mangystau region, a three-year-old child suffered a serious injury at a private nursery school in the village of Akshukur. According to the parents, on 25 August the boy severely damaged his finger: the nail was completely torn off, requiring a skin graft.

According to Lada.kz, the child's mother said that the teacher did not call an ambulance and did not provide first aid — she had to take her son to the regional children's hospital herself.

"At around 11:30 the teacher called and said the child had cut his hand with a glass. When I arrived, it turned out his finger had been crushed by a cupboard door. The nail was completely torn off, and the finger was bleeding heavily," the woman recounted.

Doctors confirmed the severity of the injury: skin was taken from the child's forearm to cover the bone.

The police have opened a criminal case under Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Improper fulfilment of duties to ensure the safety of children's lives and health"). A forensic medical examination has been ordered, and an investigation is underway.

According to the mother, the nursery school's management offered the family a financial compensation of 200,000 tenge to "hush up" the incident. The parents refused and are demanding that the institution pay for plastic surgery to restore the nail.

"I want my child to have a nail in the place where it was, not a stump. In response, I was told: 'If you want to take it to court, go ahead, the maximum will be a fine,'" the victim's mother reported.

The boy is currently undergoing treatment after surgery. The family intends to seek justice and push for stricter safety controls for children in preschool organisations in the region.

It may be recalled that earlier it was reported that in Aktau, police are investigating information about an attack on a child at the private nursery school "Tұmar". It was reported that on 5 August, in the nursery group, one of the pupils beat and choked another girl while the facility's staff were absent.
