The prosecutor's office of the Sarysu district of the Zhambyl region has uncovered the embezzlement of water supply subsidies for farms totalling 38.1 million tenge.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the depth of the drilled wells for eight farms in the district, subsidised by the regional akimat's agriculture department, does not correspond to the stated parameters of the project and estimate documentation.
"On 30 April 2025, the district prosecutor's office initiated a pre-trial investigation under paragraph 2, part 4, article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ('Fraud on an especially large scale'). The investigation has been assigned to the Department of Economic Investigations for the Zhambyl region," the statement said.
It will be recalled that earlier the Department of the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM) of the West Kazakhstan region completed an investigation into the head of a credit partnership, who is suspected of embezzling subsidies totalling 150.7 million tenge.
