Kazakhstan's grant-aided students who breached their work obligations have reimbursed the state more than 5.7 billion tenge. This was reported by JSC "Financial Centre".

According to Informburo.kz, between 2014 and 2025 courts issued over 6,000 rulings to recover tuition costs from students who failed to meet the legal requirement of mandatory work placement after receiving state-funded education.

During this period, students reimbursed 5.3 billion tenge in tuition fees and 352.5 million tenge in penalties. All funds were transferred to the national budget through the treasury committee of the Ministry of Finance.

According to the "Financial Centre", the recovered sums are subsequently directed towards objectives set by Kazakhstan's budget legislation.

Recall, earlier a teacher from one of the schools in Atyrau became a defendant in a criminal case under the article "Fraud". According to the investigation, she persuaded parents that for a certain fee she could help their children gain admission to university and "secure a grant".
