A meeting titled 'Start with yourself, protect yourself' was held at the Safi Utebaev University, organised as part of the international campaign '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence' and the 'Law and Order' ideology. The event aimed to foster zero tolerance for any form of violence among young people, enhance safety culture, and teach practical self-defence skills.
The 'Start with yourself, protect yourself' project covers several key areas: developing self-defence skills, early recognition of potentially dangerous situations, taking responsibility for one's own safety, and increasing legal literacy. During the meeting, students had the opportunity to master effective defence techniques, learn tactics for appropriate action in threatening situations, and find out about preventing domestic violence.

The practical part of the event was led by masters of sport from the Atyrau region police department. They demonstrated basic self-defence techniques, showed the correct procedure in dangerous situations, and provided participants with detailed practical advice.

The initiative is implemented as part of a global campaign that takes place annually from 25 November to 10 December and is designed to draw public attention to the issue of violence against women and girls. Such educational events help young people not only learn how to physically protect themselves but also develop psychological resilience, the ability to assess risks, and the skill to make informed decisions in critical situations.
