Kazakhstanis undertaking compulsory military service may lose the opportunity to take out loans from banks and microfinance institutions. A corresponding draft resolution from the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market (ARRDFM) has been published on the Open Legal Acts portal.
EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION
The draft defines the procedure for exchanging information between the Ministry of Defence and credit bureaus regarding citizens conscripted for compulsory military service. This information will be used to provide a deferment on existing loans and will be reflected in the credit history for the duration of service and after discharge.
BAN ON LOANS
The document requires banks and microfinance organisations, when considering a loan application, to check the applicant's status in the credit report. If it indicates that the citizen is undertaking compulsory military service, the loan will be refused.
DISCUSSION
The draft resolution of the ARRDFM is available for discussion on the Open Legal Acts portal until 3 February this year.
