In the Zhetysu garrison, during routine combat training exercises, a conscript soldier from an airborne assault unit died.

According to Informburo.kz, the tragedy occurred due to a breach of safety protocols when handling weapons. The soldier sustained a fatal injury.

A criminal case has been opened, and an investigation is underway. The Ministry of Defence stated that if negligence or dereliction of duty is established, those responsible will face severe accountability.

The family of the deceased has been promised all necessary assistance. The incident is under the special supervision of the Minister of Defence.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the Prosecutor General, Berik Asylov, ordered the introduction of two new projects — “Law and Order in the Army” and “Digital Prevention”. The initiative, aimed at protecting servicemen, ensuring command transparency, and increasing trust, has become particularly relevant in light of tragic incidents in the country’s armed forces.

In September of last year alone, five tragic incidents in the army were reported. On 7 September, in a military unit in Aktau, a conscript soldier died from a gunshot wound to the head. On 13 September, at the Military Institute of Ground Forces in Almaty, a sergeant committed suicide. On 16 September, in Arys, a contract serviceman from a military unit sustained a head wound from a traumatic weapon.

On 19 September, an officer from a military unit in the Ayagoz garrison committed suicide by hanging. On 30 September, a contract soldier from a military unit in the Aktau garrison took his own life in the apartment where he lived.

Meanwhile, in November, the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan reported the death of a conscript soldier in the East Kazakhstan Region. It was stated that he had committed suicide.

In May of this year, in a military unit in Ayagoz, Abay Region, an 18-year-old conscript, Salamat Sabitov, who was enlisted in March of this year from the North Kazakhstan Region, passed away. The family of the deceased claims that Salamat had medical contraindications to service.
