In Uralsk, officers from the criminal police have uncovered a series of frauds committed by deceiving couriers during the delivery of mobile phones. The perpetrators promised double payment, but after the goods were handed over, they ceased all communication. The suspects have been detained, and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

HOW THE FRAUDSTERS OPERATED

According to Polisia.kz, the perpetrators contacted couriers via taxi mobile applications. They asked them to collect a mobile phone from one address and deliver it to another, promising payment upon delivery and a double reward. Trusting these promises, the couriers paid for the phones in cash using their own funds. However, upon arriving at the specified address, the recipients were unreachable, and the contact numbers were switched off. As a result, the couriers suffered financial loss.

SCALE OF THE CRIMES

During the investigation, several episodes of similar offences have been established. All suspect individuals implicated in the frauds have been detained. Investigative actions are currently underway to fully clarify the circumstances.
