In the village of Kuryk, Karakiya District, Mangystau Region, the roof of the assembly hall at the State Institution "General Education School-Gymnasium" collapsed.
According to the International News Agency "Kazinform", the incident occurred on 23 July at around 6:30 am. The area of the collapsed section is approximately 250 square metres. There were no casualties.
It has been reported that the school was built in 2009, with a design capacity of 1,200 pupils. Experts have arrived at the scene to conduct an inspection.
The district administration (akimat) stated that a special commission has been established to investigate the causes of the collapse. According to officials, all those responsible will be held accountable. The first deputy governor of the region, Yerbol Izbergenov, is at the scene.
It will be recalled that in September last year, it was reported that in the village of Novonezhinka, Auliekol District, Kostanay Region, pupils were forced to study in a partially renovated building. Only four classrooms were ready in the building, where lessons for secondary school pupils were held.
Incidentally, the day after the media publication, it was reported that a wall had collapsed at Novonezhinka School. According to the akimat, there were no children or staff in the school at the time, and no one was injured.
