A video is being circulated online from the Ordabasy district of the Turkestan region, in which a local resident is seen picking a bouquet of Red Book tulips in a field.

According to the Telegram channel «Halyqstan», the woman now faces a fine of 3,000 MCI (11,796,000 tenge) or corrective or community service.

«With the arrival of April, the police monitor social media for such videos and photos, and ecologists and conservationists are also staying vigilant», the statement reads.

It is noted that wild tulip seeds lie in the ground for four to seven years before forming a new bulb.

For context, in April last year, in the Ordabasy district of the Turkestan region, a 22-year-old student recorded a video of the Red Book tulips she had picked. The police later identified the girl. The department did not disclose how that story ended.
