In the Akmola region, a major fraud case in the construction sector is being investigated. Five citizens have been recognised as victims.
According to Polisia.kz, a resident of Astana contacted the police department of Kosshy city with a statement about fraud committed by a construction company.
She reported that the company had undertaken to build a four-bedroom house in the village of Karotkel, Tselinograd District.
As it became known, in November 2023, the victim paid for the work in the amount of approximately 31 million tenge. According to the terms of the contract, the contractor was supposed to pour the foundation, as well as erect the walls and roof in December of the same year. However, by the specified deadline, work at the site had not even begun.
The victim reported that after numerous attempts to contact company representatives and demands for a refund, she did not receive her money back.
At the same time, four other residents of the Akmola region contacted the police, who had encountered a similar fraud scheme. All of them entered into contracts with the same company, made advance payments, but never saw the construction begin. The developer cited various reasons for the delays and then stopped responding to communications.
Based on these facts, law enforcement officers have initiated a pre-trial investigation.
