In Almaty, a private bailiff (PBI) has been convicted. He was found guilty of the illegal appropriation of recovered funds and large-scale fraud.
According to the press service of the city prosecutor's office, the defendant used his official position to redirect money intended for claimants. The funds were subsequently transferred to personal accounts.
In total, the bailiff embezzled more than 370 million tenge, as well as a Range Rover that was subject to enforcement proceedings.
As a result, the man was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. The court also banned him from working as a bailiff. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
For context, the Taldykorgan prosecutor's office had previously identified significant discrepancies between the actual income of PBIs and the data declared in their 2023 tax returns.
It was noted that the volume of completed enforcement proceedings for the previous year amounted to 896.1 million tenge, whereas only 231 million was declared. The difference reached 665.1 million tenge.
