Police officers were dealing drugs

The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shyngys Aleshekeshev stated that last year the department identified three instances of the sale of drugs by law enforcement officers.

According to zakon.kz, the spokesperson said that 80% of crimes within the police ranks are identified internally.

"It is no secret that a number of areas in police work are associated with corruption risks. Specifically regarding drug sales, there were three instances last year. I want to note that the majority of them, 80 percent of crimes within the police ranks, are identified internally by our own security units. This shows that we ourselves are interested in cleansing our ranks of such dishonest employees," added Shyngys Aleshekeshev.

According to him, the Minister of Internal Affairs is keeping this issue under special control. 'Rats in uniform' are held criminally liable and dismissed on negative grounds, so that they can never return to law enforcement service.

Earlier, a video circulated online in which a woman appeals to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, claiming that her husband was beaten by police officers from the Talgar District Police Department of the Almaty Region and that drugs were planted on him.
