The prosecutor's office of the Zhetysu region has announced the completion of the criminal case against a local police inspector in the city of Tekeli.
According to the department's press service, in March 2017 the accused, along with accomplices, stole physical evidence worth 24 million tenge, which was part of a criminal case.
After committing the crime, the police officer was on the international wanted list for 7 years. His accomplices were sentenced to various prison terms.
The court found the former local police officer guilty and sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months in prison.
It will be recalled that in November it became known that the former head of the investigative department of the Karaganda region police department, Rustam Kulkeev, who had been on the wanted list since 1 December 2023, had been arrested. It was reported that he is suspected of stealing mining equipment that had been seized as physical evidence in a criminal case.
