In Pavlodar, the company EcoAlem-PV LLP was fined 28.4 billion tenge for violating environmental legislation.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, an inspection revealed that the established limits for the disposal of solid household waste had been exceeded. Ecologists recorded a significant excess in the volume of waste deposited.
The court found the company guilty under Part 6 of Article 328 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of standards for permissible anthropogenic impact on the environment").
The sanction of the article provides for a fine of 10,000% of the payment rate for the disposal of waste accumulated or deposited in excess of the established limit. As a result, the fine amounted to 28.4 billion tenge.
The appellate instance upheld the court's ruling unchanged. This decision is one of the largest fines in the region.
However, questions remain: how long did the company exceed the limits? Who monitored its activities and what measures will be taken to prevent repeat violations?
Recall that earlier the environmental prosecutor's office stated that information was being concealed and violations were being committed by the authorities of the Kostanay region in the field of waste management.
Two years ago, the department identified 436 unauthorised landfills and sent instructions to executive bodies for their elimination. Officials reported that the sites had been cleared, but a follow-up inspection showed that this was not the case.
