Today in Astana, a conference of the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (AFRK) was held at the Qazaqstan sports complex.

According to the Telegram channel Uncle Vanya, the agenda included the issue of early termination of the federation president's powers - former governor of the East Kazakhstan Region Danial Akhmetov

Based on the results of the vote, in which 28 people took part, Olympic champion from London 2012, athlete Olga Rypakova, was appointed as the new president of the AFRK.

Journalists suggest that Rypakova will now have to assemble her own team, as the previous one may leave the federation following Akhmetov.

It is noted that Danial Akhmetov had headed the AFRK since March 2018.

“During this period, Kazakhstan's ‘queen of sports’ set 2 anti-records for the number of our country’s representatives qualifying for the Olympic Games. Licenses for Tokyo 2020 were won by 10 athletes from our country. Four years later, 7 Kazakhstani athletes went to Paris,” the report says.

Let us recall that in October the editorial team of FBRK attempted to investigate why the performance of Kazakhstan's track and field athletes at the Olympic Games in Paris ended in failure, and who bears the blame for such a poor result from the national team.
