The chief ecologist of Ulytau is suspected of taking a bribe.

Information is circulating online that Anti-Corruption officers have detained the head of the Department of Ecology for the Ulytau region, Dastan Tleubekov.



According to ORDA, he is suspected of receiving a bribe of 2.5 million tenge from a representative of Bass Gold LLP in exchange for issuing an environmental permit.

It is reported that Tleubekov is currently in the temporary detention facility of the Zhezkazgan police department.

It has become known that Bass Gold LLP was registered in 2006. The company's annual tax payments average over 330 million tenge.

For context, in July 2024, Anti-Corruption officers detained the acting head of the Department of Ecology for the East Kazakhstan region, Mamai Butabaev, while he was receiving a bribe of 10 million tenge.

In December, in Ust-Kamenogorsk, the head of the Department of Ecology for the East Kazakhstan region, Daniyar Aliyev, was convicted of corruption.
