Narcotics worth 3.5 billion seized from foreigners in EKR

A major drug laboratory was shut down in the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) and two foreigners were detained. The value of the seized drugs exceeded 3.5 billion tenge.

"Under the coordination of the EKR prosecutor's office, the regional National Security Committee department has stopped the activities of an underground laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs, organised by citizens of a European country", the press service of the EKR prosecutor's office reported.

More than 125 kg of "mephedrone", 500 litres of precursors, as well as a new generation of laboratory equipment capable of producing up to 30 kg of synthetic drugs per day were seized from illegal circulation.

By court order, the 2 foreign citizens have been taken into custody.
