The police liquidated a drug lab and seized 4.5 kg of mephedrone in Shymkent.

In Shymkent, police officers shut down an underground laboratory producing synthetic drugs. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the dismantling of a supply channel for chemical components, 4.5 kg of mephedrone was seized.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DETAINEES

During operational activities, two men were detained. According to the investigation, they set up the laboratory in the Zhetysu region, using warehouse facilities in Shymkent to store precursors. It is noted that the suspects planned to distribute the finished product not only within Shymkent but also in other regions of Kazakhstan.

WHAT SUBSTANCES WERE SEIZED

During the searches, police officers seized:

• around 4.5 kg of mephedrone (8,000 single doses);
• more than 1 tonne of precursors;
• equipment intended for the production of narcotic substances.

An investigation is currently underway. The suspects have been placed in custody.
