The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is conducting searches at the central office of the State Tax Service (STS) in Kyiv, as well as at its regional offices.

This was reported by Tass.ru, citing former Verkhovna Rada deputy Ihor Mosiychuk.

According to him, the searches coincided with the latest refusal by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to accept the US-proposed conflict settlement plan.

Meanwhile, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak had previously stated that on 10 December, NABU may announce new names of those involved in a large-scale corruption case linked to individuals from the immediate circle of the Ukrainian President. According to him, possible figures may include one of the Ukrainian officials.

In turn, Ukrainian journalist Anatoliy Shariy reported on his Telegram channel said that NABU is conducting searches at the STS offices in the Khmelnytsky, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Lviv regions.

For context, Ukrainian law enforcement previously conducted a large-scale anti-corruption investigation involving the state-owned company "Energoatom". NABU and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) uncovered a major corruption scheme in which contractors transferred 10-15% of the contract amount to participants in the so-called "back office". According to preliminary data, around $100 million (51.2 billion tenge) may have been laundered through controlled structures.

The operation lasted 15 months. Investigators carried out dozens of searches and issued suspicions against eight individuals, including high-ranking officials and businessmen, making the case one of the most high-profile in the energy sector.
