The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has created a database of diplomas issued since 1991, after more than 45 forged documents were discovered in the country.
According to the press service of the department, the ministry has approved requirements for the content of its own standard education documents, as well as their official series.
All diplomas are now generated through a special module, with the assignment of a unique number and QR code. Only authorised university staff have access to the system.
“Diplomas are generated based on data from the ‘Unified Higher Education Platform’ (UHEP) information system. If the student’s information is not in the UHEP, it is impossible to assign a diploma number. Education documents without a unique number and QR code are considered invalid,” the statement reads.
To date, 46 forged diplomas and 20 internet resources involved in their illegal production have been identified in Kazakhstan. The materials have been handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Information.
It is noted that universities are continuing to digitise data, and employers can verify the authenticity of a diploma via the service: https://epvo.kz. An electronic version of the document is also available in the ‘Digital Documents’ app.
Recall that earlier, the prosecutor’s office of the Urzhar district in the Abay region discovered that 15 inspectors had been employed at the State National Natural Park ‘Tarbagatai’ on the basis of forged higher education diplomas. Some of them had worked at the national park for more than 10 years.
