More than 10 criminal cases have been opened against medical workers in Kazakhstan

From 22 to 26 September, an operational and preventive measure called "Därmek" was held in Kazakhstan, aimed at monitoring the legal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors, as well as poisonous and potent drugs. 

According to Polisia.kz, law enforcement officers initiated 11 criminal cases against medical workers and identified 278 administrative offences. Approximately 7,000 medicinal products containing drugs and 80 tonnes of a poisonous substance, classified as dual-use goods, were seized from illegal circulation.

In the medical sector, police recorded over 190 violations, gathered materials regarding 202 medical workers, and seized around 40,000 tablets containing narcotic substances, 290,000 psychotropic tablets, and 236,000 ampoules. The inspection covered 519 medical institutions

In the industrial sector, 60 violations were identified, the circulation of 2,000 tonnes of precursors was restricted, and 20 legal entities were brought to account. Inspections were carried out at 159 enterprises and on 734 vehicles.

Meanwhile, it became known that over 80 tonnes of poisonous substances worth 86 million tenge were illegally imported into the Aktobe region by trains from China. 

In the East Kazakhstan region, the over-the-counter sale of potent drugs "Pregabalin", "Zonic" and "Alisa" was identified. Police seized more than 35,000 tablets

In the West Kazakhstan region, the sale of psychotropic drugs without a licence was stopped. 

In the Karaganda region, during a search of a car travelling from Astana to Karaganda, 82 packages of "Tropicamide", "Pregabalin" and "Medazepam" worth more than 240,000 tenge were seized.

The head of the department of the committee for combating drug crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Bakhytzhan Amirkhanov, reminded that administrative and criminal liability is provided for violations in the field of the legal circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
