Staff at the State Revenue Committee (SRC) have discovered that around 600 Kazakh bloggers understated their income, failing to pay the state taxes on 53.3 billion tenge.

"Based on a comparison of data obtained from various information sources with the information provided in tax declarations, discrepancies have been identified for 594 individuals totalling 53.3 billion tenge. As a result, between 13 and 14 February this year, desk audit notices were sent regarding the violation of 'understatement of income'.", the press service of the department reported.

Within 30 working days, the bloggers must submit additional tax reports along with payment of the assessed taxes, or provide an explanation if they disagree.

"At the same time, we draw attention to the need to pay taxes when receiving income, including from placing online advertising on various internet resources (promoting or selling information products, selling various training courses, conducting prize draws, etc.).", the department concluded.

For the record, in March last year, the Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Birzhanovstated that 67% of Kazakh individual entrepreneurs hide their income.
