The Anti-Corruption Agency and a number of state bodies have announced the implementation of a project for "money tagging".
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, this mechanism is being implemented on the "digital tenge" platform and is an important tool for ensuring transparency and reducing corruption risks when spending funds.
"It allows for tracking the use of budget money at all stages — from allocation to full disbursement. Each tenge receives a unique digital tag, which eliminates the possibility of embezzlement and promotes the rational use of the budget", the statement reads.
On 19 December, the Anti-Corruption Agency held an interdepartmental meeting on the implementation of the project, which was attended by deputies of the Mazhilis, representatives of the National Bank, the ministries of finance, transport, industry and construction, agriculture, as well as other interested state bodies and organisations.
To date, the project has begun implementation in agriculture, as well as in the construction of roads and railways.
In the Akmola region, the issuing of micro-loans for the purchase of agricultural livestock and subsidies for machinery costs are already being tested under the "Auyr Amanaty" programme.
This mechanism is already being used in the "Mukur-Kulsary" road section project in the Atyrau region, worth 2.1 billion tenge, and on the "Dostyk-Moyynty" railway section in the Karaganda region, worth more than 160 billion tenge.
"An important component of the further successful functioning of the mechanism is full integration with the implemented information systems of state bodies, which will significantly improve control over the actual use of budget funds in these sectors", the discussion participants noted.
Following the meeting, the departments developed a number of proposals for the further application of this tool in other sectors.
